Technical Assistant (m/f/d)

The Goncalves laboratory seeks to understand the mechanisms of somatic genome and regulatory evolution during aging and carcinogenesis. Our research strategy combines single-cell sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, functional analysis and comparative genomics to understand tissue dysfunction and detect tumor formation, particularly in the female reproductive tract.
Job description:
Molecular biology work (DNA and RNA extractions, cDNA syntheses, PCRs, qPCR)
Library preparation for different sequencing techniques (e.g. single-cell sequencing)
Working with mice (e.g. organ collection, blood collection)
Laboratory organisation
The Goncalves lab works closely with Prof. Dr. Duncan T. Odom’s lab – Division of Regulatory Genomics and Cancer Evolution, so you will also perform tasks in Odom’s lab.
Requirements:
Education as technical assistant (MTA, BTA) or laboratory assistant
Basic skills in molecular biology are advantageous
Willingness to work with animals (FELASA function A, former FELASA B is recommended)
Fluency in English and German, with good written and verbal communication skills
Ability and enthusiasm to learn independently, perform experiments, and write protocols
Ability to keep good up-to-date records and write standard operating procedures
Good organizational skills
Experimental work experience in a research laboratory is recommended
Commitment and willingness to take on scientific challenges with a friendly and positive outlook
